Eucalyptol (also known as cineole) is the primary terpene of the eucalyptus tree and the main ingredient of eucalyptus essential oil. Eucalyptol has the minty, earthy aroma of the eucalyptus tree. Eucalyptol can be a pain relief therapy, has been shown to possess potent antifungal effects and to slow the growth of bacteria. Although it is still in the early stages of research, this terpene has shown some promising effects treating Alzheimer’s as well.
